The Indian National Portal : www.india.gov.in

I wonder if any of us have ever paid much attention to the fact that India being a rapidly growing economy has a handsome website. Well handsome to the fact that it well represents the resources available all over the country. As a matter of fact the people at ‘National Informatics Centre (NIC)’ have done a pretty good job by maintaining such a firm website.

The first thing that appeals to you is the catchy top picture and a small link that tells you ‘choose theme‘. Yes, it’s that handsome (now get Me. huh!). The link opens you to an array of majestically designed themes that represent different aspects of the country.

Well, the homepage as a wonderful assortment of different lists of several utility links like Forms, Who’s Who, Know India and many more.

There is always a cover story running like an ‘AIDS awareness scheme‘ or something else. Other links are also available directing you to the different sectors of the country, financial, cultural units.

A very unique feature is the ‘News Update’ portion where day to day news is updated. This one is the best feature I have seen as yet.

This website links you to all the government owned websites in a systematic manner. This is certainly a relief since I have always had trouble finding which website to look into for a particular information or form. There is space for everyone Indians, NRI’s, foreigners and tourists. Awesome work I must say.

Not impressed yet. The here comes the special feature for the people asking for the maximum. Yes, they have a space for log in. And when you do log in, you have a personalized home page where you have the local websites, who’s who, and many other facilities just a click away…

This one is certainly a revolution. Upgraded and Handsomified (yes, that word is new).
